On the 11 June 2025, Centre Manager, Jane French attended the Flinders University Natural Sciences Career Night, held as part of the Whale Festival. Jane spoke with aspiring young scientists about career pathways and how the CLLMM Research Centre can support students on their environmental journey.
While there, Jane bumped into Django, one of our young local environmentalists. Also, a HUGE well-deserved congratulations to Django who recently won Conservation Council SA - Leif Justham Young Achiever Award!

Professor Sabine Dittmann from Flinders University and Associate Professor Jason Nicol, SARDI who is leading our Blue and Teal Carbon project, guided 15 people through the coastal swamp paperbark forest at Tokuremour Reserve and the saltmarshes of Hindmarsh Island. During the walk, Sabine and Jason shared valuable knowledge about Blue and Teal Carbon and discussed recent research highlighting the importance of these ecosystems for climate mitigation through carbon capture, as well as the many co-benefits they provide for biodiversity and local communities.
